Elturel's Fate
Session 5
We woke and decided to throw what remained of Penelope's body down the well to hide the evidence and then headed back to Green Got Inn to claim our reward. 50GP were rewarded to Tauriel, Barnabus was awarded a deed to property in Baldur's Gate (and promises to share it with everyone). We stayed the night at the inn, and head to Baldur's Gate in the morning.
Elmire revealed she had been hiding a pet Weasel called Lorcan 'fierce little one' who saved her life by biting off the top of the nose of a giant who was about to kill her. During our trek to Baldur's Gate, we saw an interesting constellation in the sky we didn't know. We also saw a large light in the distance. Fire maybe? Decided to check it out at a later date.

We discover a small clearing with a lake, which Valeria pushes Barnabus into (yay). Upon crossing the River Chionthar, we came across a group of refugees fleeing Elturel. The refugees claimed the city had been attacked, but no one knew by who or what. We decided to let the refugees travel with us.
One of the refugees, Benedict (with a limp that Elmire tried to stupidly cure when he has a disability, oops) rode on Aladin. The refugees revealed that Ulder Ravenguard (Grand Duke from Baldur's Gate) travelled to Elturel just before the attack, to fix relations between the two cities by meeting with Thavius Kreeg the High Observer of Elturel. The refugees said there is a large light that hovers over the city, protecting it, called the Companion. The light helped to banish the vampires from the city 50 years ago.

Along the road to Baldur's Gate, we meet Tillie the Smithy (Barnabus' friend who sells wares from her cart), We decided to camp with her and the refugees up on a hill. Soon after setting up camp, a group of cultists discovered our camp. They spoke infernal and mention someone called Bane. The heroes that they are, The Four kill all of the cultists except the leader, who flees. Towards the end of the fight, armed guards arrive. They are the 'Flaming Fists' (lame) and come from Baldur's Gate.
We discover that Bane is an evil god, part of the 'Dead 3' (Bane, Myrkul, Bhaal) and Bane's cultists were wearing medallions with a skull symbol on them. We ask the Flaming Fist guard to send a message to Lame Zodge (a high rank in the Flaming Fists) of Baldur's Gate of our arrival and killing of the cultists.
The Flaming Fists think that the Hell Riders of Elturel are in on the plot. We find out that cultists have been killing refugees all along the route to Baldur's Gate from Elturel. Tillie the Smithy gifts Valeria with some throwing stars. We learn about Gauntlgrym Old Dwarven city, long lost and located in the Underdark. It is the biggest forge.

We arrive at Baldur's Gate with the refugees in tow. We are rejected entry into the city unless we accept a contract to track down followers of the 'Dead 3' who are murdering refugees inside the city.
Apparently refugees are only murdered inside the city, not outside the gates and we are offered 200GP each if we are successful. The guard promises to look out for the refugees who travelled with us and we are given badges, and are now Deputies of the Flaming Fists. We must report to the Flaming Fist guard each day with our findings or we get in do do. Then we all agreed and signed our contracts (except Tauriel, who at the time, was a cat).
We learn that the bodies of the refugees always turn up in Insight Park and are instructed to go to the Elf Song Tavern to meet a contact in relation to our contracts.

On the way to meet our contact, Barnabus pushes Elmire into animal poop on the road. Elmire tries to cut his beard off and is unsuccessful, and then Barnabus makes a 'Ya Mum' jokes to Elmire, who is an orphan (dick move bro) Valeria and Barnabus have a drinking competition at the Blade and Stars Tavern (literally 1 minute after signing our contract) and Valeria wins. Barny is both devastated and possibly in love.
Upon entering the Elf Song Tavern, we learn that it is haunted and an elvish love song plays every few days (presumably by the ghost) Valeria falls asleep on the couch
